Welcome
Hello and welcome to The Geek CIO. On this blog I talk about topics on technology and leadership that are on my mind. For 25 years I’ve worked in IT and throughout all of it I have enjoyed expanding my knowledge, connecting with peers on email lists, and answering questions and sharing experiences. I hope this blog can become a similar place where I share my experience with more people and enable more people to achieve their goals with technology.
About Me
Hello, I’m Scott. I’m currently the Associate Vice President for Information Technology (aka Chief Information Officer) at Augsburg University and CIO at Luther Seminary. Through a shared services agreement between the schools I lead a merged team of 20 IT professionals. I’ve been in the IT field for 25 years now and have seen many trends come, and go, and some stay.
I’ve been a geek ever since I saw the first Star Wars movie in the theater (the real first Star Wars). I grew up on Star Wars, Marvel and DC comics, Dungeons and Dragons, Lego, and, when older, Star Trek The Next Generation and Voyager. I find those stories and worlds gave me hope for humanity, stimulated my creativity, and created shared connections with people.
